This project will be delivered through a joint venture with leading South American constructor Graña y Montero (GyM) and project delivery firm Sedgman (SDM) from Australia.
Blue Sky Network’s HawkEye 5200 (“HE5200”) satellite tracking solution will be installed on each truck to increase safety and allow for better fleet management. It will be used to monitor critical loads travelling between the port and project site where GSM coverage is limited. The HE5200 GPS tracking devices provides Iridium-only connectivity in a robust device. The reliability of Iridium network delivers uninterrupted fleet truck satellite tracking even in the most remote regions: providing 100% global visibility. The HE5200 offers unparalleled configurability and convenience to track assets in challenging environments. The GSJV joint venture combines Sedgman’s robust process engineering, execution knowledge and operational experience with local capability depth from GyM. Aurora is earmarked to produce 3.29 million ounces of gold, averaging 194,000 ounces per year, over an initial 17-year mine life. The Engineering, Procurement and Construction scope of works includes a 1.75 Mt/a processing plant, power station and integration management. The Aurora Project award came on the back of Sedgman’s successful delivery of the Mungari Gold Project in Western Australia, which achieved first gold pour in early 2014. It firms Sedgman’s reputation as a gold processing specialist and confirming GyM’s ability to deliver construction projects in remote environments across many countries in the South American region. The GSJV provided detailed process guarantees for the gold plant ensuring the final design meets Guyana Goldfields’ production needs.
