ICAO Safety Conference & Normal Aircraft Tracking Implementation Initiative

ICAO Safety Conference & Normal Aircraft Tracking Implementation Initiative

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) held a safety conference on May 1, 2015 in Montreal, Canada, where several major aircraft GPS tracking companies and satellite service providers attended and demonstrated their satellite tracking solutions and services. The main focus of this conference was to discuss Normal Aircraft Tracking Implementation Initiative and increase the effectiveness of the current alerting and search and rescue services. The conference addressed several key improvement areas, including the implementation of a globally integrated system, the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS). This system will evaluate all phases of flight under various circumstances including aircraft distress. GADSS will maintain an up-to-date record of the aircraft progress, and in case of an anomaly,  help operators know the exact location of the aircraft and be able to track it to a flight conclusion.  ICAO intends to conduct a limited trial within the next few weeks where several volunteer airlines will be share their tracking protocol during certain flight over the oceans. This new ICAO GADSS will apply to aircraft carrying more than 19 passengers and/or which have a gross weight of 26,000 kg or more. The trial will analyze normal aircraft GPS tracking.

Blue Sky Network (BSN) was one of the satellite tracking companies that participated in this safety conference with aviation organizations and demonstrated the capabilities of our satellite tracking solutions. Blue Sky Network is a pioneer in satellite tracking and two-way communication for fleets worldwide. We hold the highest Iridium status – Tier 1 Service Partner, Value Added Manufacturer (VAM) and Value Added Reseller (VAR). BSN provides hardware, cloud-based software, Iridium satellite service and 24/7 technical support to our aviation, marine and land based customers.  Our FAA- certified Aviation solutions include D1000A/C satellite tracking transceiver with ACH1000 control head for voice capability and HawkEye 7200A (HE7200A).

We use Iridium satellite network because it offers faster connection times and true global coverage – even on polar air routes. Blue Sky Network is a total solution provider offering hardware, airtime and back-end web portal.  We will be an active supplier of GADSS equipment and a solution for operators around the world.
