MIAT Mongolian Airlines Depends on Blue Sky Network for Autonomous Flight Following

La Jolla, Calif., March 30, 2010 – Blue Sky Network, a leading global provider of Iridium-based GPS tracking and communication solutions for land, sea, and aviation assets, today announced it has been selected by MIAT Mongolian Airlines to provide flight tracking, voice communications, and data messaging capabilities onboard its fleet of B-737 aircraft. With the Blue Sky equipment, Mongolia’s national airline will be able to accurately follow and communicate with its planes at anytime, anywhere on the globe, significantly increasing the safety and security of both passengers and flight operators.

Blue Sky Network’s D1000A transceivers and ACH1000 voice and two-way messaging devices enable MIAT ground personnel to stay in touch with pilots regardless of an aircraft’s location. Based on the global Iridium satellite network, Blue Sky’s solutions are purpose-built for maintaining communication throughout remote areas with little or no radio coverage. In addition to position reporting and satellite phone capabilities, Blue Sky’s devices include “Quick Position” mayday alert buttons, a critical feature should an emergency occur during flight.

“There is no greater concern than keeping air passengers secure. Blue Sky Network lets us talk to our pilots at any time, send messages back and forth, and easily see where our planes are in real-time, key components of an airline’s safety program,” said Yo. Enkhtur, Technical Director of MIAT Mongolian Airline. “In addition to its advanced technology, the price point and customer service provided by Blue Sky made selecting it an easy choice.”

Blue Sky Network’s powerful SkyRouter web portal works in coordination with the D1000A to transmit satellite messages to and from aircraft en route or flight managers on the ground in the form of GPS position reports on take-offs and landings, two-way text messages, or telemetric data reports. Included in SkyRouter is a smooth global mapping solution accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. As an added feature, Google Earth’s three-dimensional map can also be integrated for past and live aircraft trip tracking.

“Reliable fleet monitoring and communications solutions are essential tools for aviation fleets,” said Carlton van Putten, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Blue Sky Network. “Our GPS-tracking and communications technology allows MIAT Mongolian Airline to rest assured knowing their pilots are constantly in contact with flight operations. Blue Sky Network is committed to keeping these and all aircraft safe, anywhere on the globe.”
