Peruvian Air Force Equips Planes with Blue Sky Network’s Portable GPS Tracking and Communication Device
La Jolla, Calif. – April 27, 2010 – Blue Sky Network, a leading, global provider of GPS tracking and communication solutions for land, sea, and aviation assets, announced today that the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) will be using Blue Sky Network’s GPS-based aviation tracking devices for it’s search and rescue (SAR) operations. Aboard the FAP’s aircraft are Blue Sky Network’s D2000 flyaway kits. These waterproof, rugged tracking devices provide the fleet with continuous satellite communications and offer unparalleled safety features.
Due to its ultra-portable design, the D2000 allows for flawless unit exchange between fleets, and safety features include a mayday button and short code and text messaging. Blue Sky Network’s GPS tracking devices operate from the only truly global satellite provider, Iridium, ensuring that the FAP’s fleet will be in communication anywhere in Peru or throughout the world. Additionally, the kits feature a battery life of up to 12 hours, allowing for extended monitoring and communication between on-flight personnel and ground control.
“Because of the local support, training and expertise of our partner ABTEL Peru, we have begun to see significant adoption of Blue Sky Network technology in the commercial oil and gas sector,” said Carlton van Putten, Blue Sky Network’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “Expanding into the military and defense sector is a natural extension of our products and services as there is nothing more important than helping the FAP ensure safety for all its operations.”
