The San Diego Office is located in the heart of Mission Valley, next to the Mission Valley shopping mall, Trolley, and plenty of lunch sources. Free parking is available on-site.

The Scottsdale office is located in the Scottsdale Airpark in North Scottsdale, AZ. The Scottsdale Airpark is one of the largest employment centers in the state of Arizona. San Diego, CA Location:

We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Avionics Engineer to join our team in our San Diego, CA 92108 location. The San Diego office is in the heart of Mission Valley next to the Westfield shopping mall, trolley station, and many surrounding restaurants. Free parking is available on site.

About the Role:

The Avionics Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership of the Company’s avionics products—including development, release strategy, roadmaps, and requirements. This position requires an ambitious and self-motivated mentality to act as the primary point of contact for the hardware engineering team, regulatory approvals, and key customers.

What You’ll Do:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with internal Subject Matter Experts (SME) and sales team to devise client solutions
  • Manage the technical side of hardware projects or programs involving, but not limited to, OEM qualification and integration, custom avionics development, regulatory compliance initiatives, and prototype development
  • Provide expertise and guidance on installation and regulatory approval of avionics hardware on aircraft
  • Maintain and improve installation guides, Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA), engineering documentation, test records, and all other resources supporting our line of hardware and avionics products
  • Develop solution briefs
  • Be the SME for all aviation-related products and solutions
Our Perfect Candidate:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 4+ years aerospace industry experience as electrical or avionics engineer
  • Experience as product or program manager for avionics is a plus
  • Experience with avionics installation, acquiring and maintaining STC, PMA, and civil aviation authority (CAA) installation approvals
  • Experience with qualification testing for electronics avionics hardware
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or ability to qualify as a DER
  • Project Management experience a plus

Job Environment:

At our San Diego office, you’d be joining a team of developers / IT people in an open-seating environment that is quite lively. We routinely host company lunches.

Hours/Location:

The San Diego Office is located in the heart of Mission Valley, next to the Mission Valley Shopping mall, Trolley, and plenty of lunch sources. Free parking is available on-site.

Office Hours: Blue Sky Network offers flexible schedules for employees. Our office is open from 7am – 6pm, PT.

IT teams often work evenings and weekends when big changes are published, and you should be willing to be available for those operations, though they do not come up very often.

Compensation:

The job is full time, salary, non-contract. Compensation is dependent on experience.

Additional:
